This awesome little jar was made by Fannie Nampeyo in 1976. Serious collectors are well aware of Fannie Nampeyo's biography and high status. I suggest any potential buyer to look up her amazing history. A few basic facts are given here, gleaned from HOPI-TEWA POTTERY 500 Artist Biographies: Daughter of Nampeyo and Lesou; Born 1904, died 1987; Mother of Thomas, Elva, Tonita, Iris, Leah, Harold and Elsworth. Her favorite designs were migration, rain, clouds, tail feathers, star, and feathers. Fannie's pottery is in many of the most prestigious private and public collections.
This classic example of Fannie Nampeyo pottery is 2 3/8" diameter by 2" high. The top opening is 1" diameter. The polychrome designs are impeccable, perfect examples of Fannie's mastery of her chosen art form. Whether you are just beginning your collection, or adding to the collection of a lifetime, this little jar should not be overlooked. I hate to give it up, but hope it finds a good home!
